Antigen

An antigen is a protein molecule that can induce an immune response. In the diagnosis of celiac disease through a primary blood count, there are three antigens used for the detection of the disease:
Endomysium, the connective tissue proteins to the muscle fibers of the intestine
Tissue transglutaminase tTGA (the antibody)
Gliadin, a subgroup of the gluten substances

Antibodies of celiacs react against their own intestinal mucosa.
