Nutrients

Nutrients are absorbed through the intestinal villi. These finger-like protrusions of the intestinal mucosa are harmed if they are to take up gluten. The result is an inflammation of the small intestine. This means that the nutrient uptake is disturbed, the nutrients are absorbed and remain almost undigested in the intestine. Malnutrition of children with celiac disease can lead to a disturbance of the body's growth and development disorders.
