Biopsy
A biopsy refers to the removal of tissue from the body for diagnostic purposes. In the diagnosis of celiac disease, the biopsy is not first, but is based on the occurrence of typical symptoms and a first, non-invasive examination, usually a blood test. To diagnose celiacs reliably, an endoscopic biopsy has to be carried out.
